NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Derrick Morgan is having the best season in his seventh year in the NFL, while Brian Orakpo on the other side of Tennessees defensive line is just two sacks shy of matching his career high.Together, the Titans linebackers are taking down quarterbacks as good as any duo in the NFL.Morgan has eight sacks, while Orakpo has nine for a total of 17. Only Cliff Avril (10) and Frank Clark (7+) of Seattle have more combined sacks, and thats by just a half sack. Those two guys right there are game-changers, and when those two are rolling theres nobody out there that can stop them, Titans defensive lineman Jurrell Casey said.So its really hard for an offensive line to contain either one of them. And when you get guys like that rushing off the edge, it makes the game a lot easier for the guys in the middle and for the secondary, makes the game 10 times easier for them.Morgan, the Titans first-round pick in 2010 out of Georgia Tech, and Orakpo now find themselves in a race to see who can become the first Tennessee player to pile up double-digit sacks since Casey had 10+ in 2013.Thats any edge defenders goal is to get to double digits, Morgan said. Thatd be something special if we were both able to get to double digits and finish off the year strong.Orakpo had 11 sacks as a rookie with Washington in 2011 and had 10 in 2013 also with the Redskins. This already marks his best season since then, and Orakpo already has 32 quarterback pressures with five games left -- five shy of what he totaled all of last season.Padding the sack level to 10 or higher is much more special since the quarterback winds up on the ground.Oh, thatd be huge not only for me and him because of how hard we work together since day one, but for this franchise and organization. Orakpo said. I love working with the guy. We both bring it. We both complement each other very well. The Titans (5-6), who visit Chicago (2-8) on Sunday, havent had this kind of production from a defensive duo since 2010 when Jason Babin (12+) and Dave Ball (seven) combined for 19+ sacks.Defensive end Jevon Kearse (14+) and linebacker Eddie Robinson (six) combined for 20+ sacks in 1999 when this franchise reached its lone Super Bowl. Two Titans each with double-digit sacks? That would be a first since 1999 when this franchise was renamed the Titans.Morgans production is special to the linebacker who has fought injuries since being drafted, playing a full 16 games only in 2012 and 2014.He had 6+ sacks in each of those seasons, limited by not having a strong pass rush threat on the other side. He said he thanks God for his success, especially the teammates around him. This is what the Titans envisioned when they signed Orakpo in March 2015 to a four-year deal and brought back Morgan with a four-year deal as well.I think youve seen the tale of two years, Titans coach Mike Mularkey said. One year you dont, and then one year you do. You see really a force from both sides.Youre seeing other guys getting involved with the pressure. Its evident when you can have two edge rushers that are having success, one can play off the other. ... Theyre both having success because of each other.Game notes LT Taylor Lewan (left knee) was limited in practice. TE Phillip Supernaw (concussion protocol) did not practice. RB DeMarco Murray (toe on right foot) and CB Brice McCain (knee) practiced fully.---For more NFL coverage: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFL .---Follow Teresa M. Sunday, October 2Melbourne Storm ($1.77) vs Cronulla Sharks ($2.10), ANZ Stadium at 7:15pmTeam news:The Storm look set to go into the NRL Grand Final with a clear bill of health after coming through their preliminary final win over the Raiders unscathed. The match will also represent the final game in Melbourne colours for a number of players who have signed elsewhere including Blake Green (Manly), Marika Koroibete (Melbourne Rebels rugby) and possibly Ben Hampton (linked with North Queensland) and Kevin Proctor (linked with Gold Coast).Cronulla are also relatively injury-free and could be boosted further by the possible return of hard-running forward Sam Tagataese from a shoulder injury. The NRL Integrity Unit are investigating Andrew Fifitas comments about having no remorse for his public support of convicted killer Kieran Loveridge but it has placed unnecessary attention on the Sharks ahead of the biggest game in the clubs 50 year history.Key head-to-head: Cooper Cronk vs Chad TownsendThis clash throws up several key confrontations including Cameron Smith vs Michael Ennis, Cameron Munster vs Ben Barba and Jesse Bromwich vs Andrew Fifita but I believe the two No7s hold the key.Townsend demonstrated great mental strength to bounce back from being hooked during the Sharks Week 1 finals win against the Raiders to outplay the NRLs best player Johnathan Thurston against the Cowboys last Friday.Cronk will pose another challenge; many might say he will be a bigger challenge based on this years form. The Storm halfback has a reputation for being one of the most professional athletes in rugby league and its a safe bet to assume his preparation will be timed perfectly and he looms as the biggest danger to the Sharks.Cronks impact can never be eliminated completely but if the Sharks, in particular Townsend, can limit his input then they will go a long way to finally adding the biggest prize of all to their barren trophy cabinet.TeamsSharks: 1. A?5 percent chance of rain, light 15 to 20 km/h northerly winds with an expected temperature of 22 degrees at kick-off.Prediction:?Melbourne won the minor premiership by beating Cronulla and I expect them to produce a repeat performance to claim the NRLs major prize and their third premiership. The Storm have too many winners in their side that know how to win the big-games -- Cooper Cronk and Cameron Smith are proven performers under pressure. Melbourne arguably has the best pack in the NRL, the best prop in the game in Jesse Browwich and in my opinion the most dangerous back three in Cameron Munster, Markia Koroibete and?Suliasi Vunivalu so I just think they will have too much class.Cronulla have surprised everybody this season -- probably even themselves and their most loyal fans. Any team that goes unbeaten for 16 consecutive rounds is a genuine premiership contender but three wins from the previous eight starts isnt the most convincing form guide heading into a premiership decider. In addition, one of those losses was against the Storm less than a month ago and if the Sharks dont start well, the mental demons could start to creep in. I think Cronulla can go with Melbourne early but once the emotion subsides and the arm-wrestle takes over, I expect the Storm to prevail.?Tip: Storm by 10Enter your ESPNfootytips NRL selections ' ' '
