This story appears in ESPN The Magazines Nov. 28 Tall Ball Issue. Subscribe today!Game day is all about preparation, and for Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson, 26, that means factoring in the season and the city hes in to develop a signature look. We caught up with Peterson after the Oct. 30 game between the Cards and the Panthers Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.?Heres what Peterson had to say about how he puts himself together:Any thoughts on our idea for The Walk-In? I always believed photographers should catch us right before we leave our hotel or go into the stadiums. It helps the League, fashion-wise, which then helps our marketability. My image is part of my brand and kids want to see what were wearing pre and post game. ?How would you describe your style? I guess I would say laid back, business causal, but I could also be into todays?fashion trends, as far as?the?skinny?look goes, European-fit jeans with the long white tees. Im very versatile with my style. I take pride in it as well because I have a brand and image and I want that brand to represent who I am.?How do you put this outfit together? Its all about feel. I always try a couple of things to see if they look good?and see how I feel in them. It also depends on weather and at what point of the year it is. The seasons dictates the color, but its really all about feel.?How did this outfit come about??I use Elevee, its a custom suit maker. Jennifer Duran is my stylist, she put this look together for me. Before the season starts, she comes to my house and I buy 8-12 new suits for the season. We go through colors, fabrics and looks and really plan out these suits before the season starts. So when it comes to Sunday, I dont really have to think about it much. It still takes me about 30 minutes?to an hour?to get the look ready and to get dressed, but the color combos are usually all planned out.?Jacket: Its for the winter and I thought it was a great touch to bring into November. I go for the slim-fit looks, its in style nowadays. Its a look I love. Ive been going for this style for a while.?Silk Tie: The tie is an Elevee product. I picked it because I needed something to give it a pop. I have the plaid jacket and the button-down shirt. That tie was chosen so you can get the focus off the jacket with the polka dot tie. ?Silk Pocket Square: Im not really big on the pocket square, but I am huge into the detail and that adds. If you look at the picture, you will see my left cuff, above the watch, you can see my logo P2 in the shirt.Do you consult your stylist every Saturday night before the game??Every weekend I have a game plan for my outfit. It actually starts in the beginning of the season when I pick out the colors I am going to wear and the ties we choose. The planning is in the beginning of the season but I do think about it each week. ?Watch:?Its a Rolex, I got that in 2013 as a gift from my jeweler for making, I believe, my third consecutive Pro Bowl. ?Pants + Shoes:?The pants are Elevee as well. I love the slim fit, a little more slender around the ankle so you can actually see the details in the shoes that you may wear. I went with my Size 11 Louis Vuitton two-toned shoes with no socks. So I have a European look all the way down, from top to bottom. ?Your backpack: What is it? Whats in it? And it looks like your backpack has a backpack??Yes, (laughs) my backpack does have a backpack. It is a Gucci Sport backpack. I keep my iPad, my toiletry bag and pretty much my notes from the game plan in there. Youll see I have a backpack on the backpack, its really nothing, its just a Fendi bag. I thought it was pretty cool, I basically have a different one on every backpack. Theyre just fun. ?Sunglasses:?Those are some Tom Fords. I take good care of them. In the early stage of my career I was the guy who would lose almost every pair of sunglasses. As Ive gotten older and more responsible I dont lose them anymore, I take good care of my things.?Are you using skin care products?? No, not really, I am not into that, though I do get?a facial?twice a month. Right now I am growing my facial hair.Whose style do you admire??I like the style of Russell Westbrook, I also like the way will.i.am dresses, and I like the way LeBron puts together outfits. They all have their own style in their own unique way, but it looks nice. So I do look to see what other guys are wearing, but I really keep it to what looks and feels good on me. ZURICH -- North America became a stronger favorite to host an expanded World Cup in 2026 after FIFA essentially barred European countries from bidding on Friday. The FIFA Council agreed that UEFA and Asian confederation members should not bid again so soon after Russia hosts the 2018 World Cup and Qatar has the 2022 tournament. That has changed the landscape (of the 2026 contest) a little bit, said U.S. Soccer Federation president Sunil Gulati, a FIFA Council member.FIFA said Europe would be put on standby only if none of the received bids fulfill the strict technical and financial requirements.Thats unlikely if the United States bids as expected, either alone or with Canada and Mexico.FIFA favors co-hosting among regional neighbors, and a three-way bid could be more popular if the tournament grows to 40 or 48 teams.A decision will be made on whether to expand the tournament on Jan. 9-10 when the FIFA Council next meets in Zurich.FIFA has targeted 2020 for its member federations to choose the 2026 host.FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who was elected this year after promising voters a 40-team World Cup, would not declare North America as the most likely host region. It is still too early to say that, Infantino said. We hope we have many bidders and we can choose ... who the best bidder is.Still, the North American regional body CONCACAF has long been seen as the natural host for 2026 and its claim got stronger Friday. The United States was the last country in the region to stage the tournament in 1994.The answer is `Sure, it would be silly to say anything but that, Gulati said of a contest that could also include bids from Africa and South America.CONCACAF lost out when a hosting rotation system approved during Sepp Blatters presidency was abandoned before its scheduled turn in 2018 came around.Back then, FIFA preferred to block continents from two Worrld Cup bidding contests after hosting, but when statutes were updated in recent reforms the rule said only one tournament had to be skipped.dddddddddddd.Gulati said the new clarity in bidding would encourage an entry from the United States. We now know some of the rules, said Gulati, FIFAs top American official. We will look at it. We have great relationships with Canada and Mexico. We also have a country with 320 million people that has hosted a World Cup and with a lot of terrific stadiums and great infrastructure.A U.S.-hosted World Cup would likely set attendance records -- in 1994 there were 3.59 million total fans and an average of 69,000 per match.Infantino said Friday that a bigger World Cup -- potentially of 48 teams and 80 matches with an opening playoff round -- would be for sporting reasons, not a financial or political decision.Still, he foresaw more revenue from FIFAs current $5 billion per tournament, which could help increase the funding he promised to FIFA members.Whatever additional costs there will be, will be largely outweighed by additional revenues, obviously. Which means we are in a comfortable position, Infantino said.Other decisions Friday:- FIFAs 2017 congress will be held in Manama, Bahrain -- the home city of FIFA vice president Sheik Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa of Bahrain -- on May 11. The original venue of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, pulled out citing problems with issuing visas to delegates.- The rebranded FIFA annual awards ceremony, formerly known as the Ballon dOr, will still be held in Zurich on Jan. 9. FIFA had explored a move to London.- The dates of CONCACAFs Gold Cup tournament in 2017 have been modified. It will kick off two days earlier, end four days earlier and be played July 7-26. ' ' '
