Stop me if you’ve read this sentence before: The Carolina Panthers need to address their anemic pass rush in the 2019 NFL Draft. There are currently only three defensive ends on the 2019 Panthers roster—Mario Addison Thomas Davis Color Rush Jersey , Efe Obada and Marquis Haynes—so Marty Hurney will have to add someone to the roster before next season. As we’ve discussed several times already, there are two ways to do that: free agency, and the draft. In Dan Kadar’s latest mock draft for SB Nation, he projects the Panthers will address their need for a premier defensive end with the No. 16 overall pick. Last week he mocked Clelin Ferrell to the Panthers at No. 16, and this week is no different. However, his reason for Ferrell making it to No. 16 is because another defensive end jumped into his top-ten after an impressive Senior Bowl performance.WalterFootball ranks Ferrell as the No. 4 defensive end in this year’s class after Nick Bosa https://www.carolinapanthersfanshop.com/Cameron-Artis-Payne-Jersey , Rashan Gary and Jachai Polite:My takeAs much as I hate to admit it, Ferrell is pretty dang good. I think he would be a great pick for the Panthers at No. 16 because he immediately addresses a critical need for the roster. The only position I would even consider drafting above a defensive end in the first round is offensive tackle, and I believe Ferrell at No. 16 will be a better value than any of the offensive tackles who would be left on the board (unless someone like Jonah Williams or Cody Ford miraculously falls, which probably won’t happen). What do you think, Panthers fans? Should Clelin Ferrell be the pick if he’s available at No. 16, or would you rather take an offensive tackle and find a pass rusher elsewhere? What do you think is the better strategy? Let’s hear what you have to say! Update (2:30 p.m. ET) - NFL rules require the Panthers to post an official injury report https://www.carolinapanthersfanshop.com/J.J.-Jansen-Jersey , so they have done that today even though 1) it’s the exact same one they used yesterday, and 2) their practice today was only a walkthrough. Here’s today’s official injury report:Panthers injury reportDid not participate in practiceC Ryan Kalil (ankle)LB David Mayo (knee)WR Torrey Smith (knee)Limited participation in practiceDE Mario Addison (shoulder)CB Captain Munnerlyn (chest)QB Cam Newton (shoulder)TE Greg Olsen (foot)S Eric Reid (shoulder)Full participation in practiceN/AThe Panthers aren’t very concerned with the guys who were limited today since the weather was bad and practice was just a walkthrough. The only cause for concern would be if none of these guys participate tomorrow. With it being a short week, the Panthers are being cautious and giving anyone nursing an injury as much rest as possible. Torrey Smith and Ryan Kalil are in danger of missing Thursday night’s game, but we won’t know more on that until tomorrow or Thursday.Ron Rivera, however, is optimistic that Kalil will suit up.Due to the weather and the fact that they play in two days https://www.carolinapanthersfanshop.com/Mike-Adams-Jersey , the Panthers had a glorified walkthrough at practice today. Wide receiver Torrey Smith (knee) and center Ryan Kalil (ankle) did not participate in today’s practice session, so their status for Thursday night in Pittsburgh is definitely up in the air right now.Linebacker Shaq Thompson and safety Eric Reid worked out on the sidelines, so hopefully that’s just the Panthers being cautious due to the short break between games. The Panthers travel to Pittsburgh on Thursday night for a tough road contest against a quality opponent. History isn’t on the Panthers’ side as they have never won in Pittsburgh and are 0-for-5 in their last five games against the Steelers, and 1-5 all-time against them.Hopefully they can turn their fortunes around on Thursday night!Stay tuned for more updates on the injury report. We’ll share any new information whenever it becomes available.Practice StatusDid not participate in practice = 0% of a player’s normal repetitionsLimited participation in practice = Less than 100% of a player’s normal repetitionsFull participation in practice = 100% of a player’s normal repetitionsGame StatusOut = Player will not playDoubtful = Player unlikely to playQuestionable = Uncertain if player will play
