Is this all some overhyped marketing game? I see these knives for sale on various websites and internet sellers (most of them are cheap quality folders and fixed blades with serrations and sawbacks that are not at all in the same league of quality as Spyderco and other serrations) with both satin finished and blackened or coated blades, that have emblems and lettering on them claiming they are used by either the USA or British or other elite and special military forces.
One guy was telling me a knife he had for sale was "Officially issued to the British Special Air Service" and had gotten many an English soldier back home safely. The particular knife was about 15 dollars US, and, had a black coated "Super Surgical Stainless Steel" blade, with serrations that looked like one swipe across a piece of paper would break the tips off them, and a blackened aluminum handle.
How are we to decide if a particular knife is truly issued to and proven by use by such special forces, or, just some lame marketing gimmick? Please help.
I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
